What is Machine Controlled Excavation?

Machine Controlled excavation is an in-cab guidance system that is linked both to the tool edge and to a coordinate system via highly accurate sensors. This gives an operator the ability to know exactly where their bucket or cutting edge is in the real world. In some instances the machine has automated systems that link the positioning software to the hydraulic lines, which enables the machine to cut to grade automatically.
