What is 4D project planning?

Planning the dimensional characteristics of a project is done by 3D modelling the design and working to a 3 axis coordinate system. The 4th dimension brings time into the equation. This enables us to plan how a project will be executed over time. We can clearly see clashes between site operations and optimise the efficiency of our movements prior to site works commencing.
